Heating Oil, Kerosene, Diesel Fuel & Propane Supplier in Claremont, NH

In 1967, Roger and Gertrude Hinkley purchased the assets of the American Oil Company (AMOCO) in Claremont, NH and the surrounding area. This was the birth of R.E. Hinkley Company. Starting out with a one-man operation delivering gasoline, heating oil, motor oil and lubricants, Roger or known by many as “Tink”, delivered the products while Gertrude held down the office duties.

In the early 70’s, the sons of Tink and Gert joined the work force. Steven started shortly after coming home from serving in the Navy and Scott started right out of high school. The company grew to include a full fledged service department, gas stations, and a couple of convenience stores. In 1986, Gert and Tink retired and sold the family business to their sons, Scott and Steve. Lissa, Scotts wife, took over the management of the office and this was the second generation's beginning. In 2000, Scott bought out Steve and decided to concentrate on the heating oil and diesel fuel end of the business. Luke, Scott and Lissa's son, started work for the Company while in high school, learning the art of delivering oil and serving the customers. Shortly after, Carla, Scott and Lissa's daughter, joined her mother in the office providing customer service. With this, the third generation is now on the job.

In 2005 Scott and Lissa purchased land in Claremont on Lane Ridge Road for a new facility to house R.E. Hinkley Co. After selling their home, Scott and Lissa moved to Lane Ridge with the business and reside in an apartment at the facility. Nearby also sits the homes of Luke and Carla. This places Carla’s children at the office and we proudly say that this is the fourth generation in training.

2009 saw the birth of a propane division enabling a wider more complete line of comfort products for the customers of R.E. Hinkley Co.

The R.E. Hinkley Company continues to be run by “family” and strives to treat their customers as part of it.
